MarionWe all know that there are wars, terrorism, teenagers having parties that get out of control and bullying in our schools.  However, all of these things need to be kept in perspective and dealt with proportionately.

Changing the world is an honourable notion, but where does one start?  Marion Parsonage saw the global problems but decided the place to initiate change was in the local schools.

Marion asked herself two valuable questions:
Why is this happening?  What can I do about it?

Marion believed that if one can make an impact on children then one can change the world little by little. If we could recognise and acknowledge the innately kind nature of human beings, how different it would be.

Three local primary schools were approached who could see the potential of celebrating a school culture that celebrated kindness.

Looking back to these simple beginnings and philosophy, the three schools approached in May 2004, are all still actively participating in the Act of Kindness program. In fact, one school now has sponsorship enabling it to present two Awards each week.

On 1 June 2007 when the program was launched, 8 new schools came on board. First term 2008 saw 23 schools across Victoria and the program welcomed the first school from N.S.W. With the start of second term 2008, 3 more schools joined the Act of Kindness community.

The Act of Kindness Foundation is changing the lives of Australians of all ages.
